But why is he filming? Like all these people are doing is trying to get paid for a lawsuit, why are so many people okay with this? If someone asks you to stop filming their property then why get indignant. I get he has a right to do it (which I’ll be honest calling yourself a journalist just because you have a camera doesn’t make it so) but he’s just trying to get a pay day. He’s the same guy that would say a sting operation is entrapment and yet that’s what he’s doing.

He tells him that these people expect a certain amount of privacy when they’re sending behind a glass window, and you can visually see them with your own eyes. So even if he wasn’t pointing the camera into the window, he could legally just stand there and stare through the glass and there’s nothing that they can do about it. So what’s the difference between using your own eyes or a camera? I get it these people go out just trying to stir the pot, but people also need to understand the laws of public space.

Prolonged recording of a business can be viewed as harassment. If he means to use the footage for capital gains, then they can sue for the money because he's making money from their likeness without permission. If it is editorial, artistic, free speech, or for educational services then he's protected by the first amendment. It's one thing to record for a few minutes and move on, but to stay there for a prolonged time and not leave when asked, sounds like intimidation, which can also be considered a threat. And in that case he should leave instead of continuing to record.
