Never do this with makeup brushes. You don't ever want to submerge them or get water in the ferrule (metal part). It not only will start breaking down the glue holding the hairs together, it'll also cause mold. You don't want to rub mold on your face. Always hold brushes upside down while cleaning then either dry upside down (like in a rack designed for it) or lie them flat
