I’ve already lost myself anyway. Somewhere between trying to be enough for everyone and pretending I was okay when I wasn’t, I slowly forgot who I used to be. I kept adjusting, kept giving, kept staying quiet just to keep things from falling apart, until there was nothing real left of me to hold on to. I got so used to choosing other people over myself that I didn’t even notice when I stopped recognizing who I was. And now, when I try to find my way back, it feels like I’m searching for someone who doesn’t exist anymore.
