@ktbunton: We want the kitchen and living room to have the same flooring throughout stylistically so we were praying the hardwood continues under the cork layer. Unfortunately no luck there so we will have to make a big decision whether we A. Try to find timber to match B. Do a completely different flooring in the kitchen or C. Replace all the wood flooring so it’s cohesive throughout the space. What do you think we should do?! #homerenovation #kitchenrenovation #multigenerationalliving #homesoftiktok #CapCut
I wonder if something like this would work? So beautiful! Unsure what look you’re going for overall though🤭 otherwise I’m sure there is a company that’s able to match the flooring or atleast stain the new flooring to match!

Keep it all the same. Seamless flooring will make the house look bigger.

Did you say “savage” this hard wood?

It is very common practice to match the original wood floors and then finish them so everything looks like it was done at the same time. It will cost far less than $50,000. Would highly recommend looking into it because the floors you have are beautiful!

Do a herringbone tile or Lino, you can mix flooring and textures it will be fine and look more architectural

We had a smilialr issue in our house and ended up ripping up the wood floor and the tile and replacing it with one floor. It’s supposed to be “temporary” until we can do our whole house but we used vinyl flooring and I honestly love it so much more than the wood.

Lighten the wood (pretty cheap to do) and do a beautiful light tile it would still look lovely

I would definitely pick a tile to compliment those hardwood floors. Save a shit ton of money and get to keep the original flooring. there's some pretty nice/ qorky tile out there now a days , not just plain ol white or grey.

As someone who did cohesive flooring on my entire main level, I wish I broke it up with some tile

Would a polished concrete work as a lighter colour with a contrast speckle?

we laid luxury vinyl on top of our wood floor and tile for one cohesive floor. Took nothing out, looks amazing.

Have you considered tiles that look like wood? They seem to be a form of plastic. Game changer for the kitchen and the aesthetic.

The kitchen isn’t that big. You’ll be able to find matching wood-but if you have any leaks in the kitchen it will ruin the floor
