@lfabukola: IDÈ IFÁ (ifá beads) There are several misconceptions about why we wear brown and green ita beads on our wrists. In odu ifá (holy corpus) Oyeku Meji, IFA tells us that the beads are spiritual fortification for Orúnmilà's children / followers. In ancient time, during the time of ORUNMÍLÀ Ikú (death) & ARN (sickness) was ravaging the earth and taking a large number of people before their time Orunmilà did not want this for his children, and so he tricked Ikú (death) into making a pact, promising that he would pass over the children of Orunmilà and leave them unharmed so that they would be able to tulfill their destinies without the threat of premature death Ikú (death) is asked how he would know who was a child of Orunmilà and who was not? And at that time it was determined that ide Ifa (ifá beads) worn on the left wrist would be the identifier of Orúnmila's children and if death saw this he should turn the other way and leave the person alone until it was their rightful time to depart from this earth. And ileke is also for the protection of harms from human being.
