I’d never do any birth control ever again because I felt like I was ON my period the entire time just without the flow. It’s like being perpetually stuck with PMS. Bloating, boobs sore, verge of tears and rage but 🐱 dry AF! I’m looking into uterine ablation.

I think everyone’s experience is different. I had the Mirena many years ago no major pain for myself when I had it put in. But cross your fingers you have no period as myself my period didn’t completely stop. So depends. I also had my period during breastfeeding too 🤷🏽‍♀️I think you just got to go for it and see if you can do it.

I’ve had TWO Mirena IUDs and it was the greatest thing I ever did for NO periods and birth control. I didn’t have any pain inserting and changing. Just a slight pinch HOWEVER I have had two kids so I’ve heard it’s less painful.

Same girl!!! I’m 40 as well and I think I am getting an IUD because I cannot handle this shit anymore. I’m scared of the insertion too which is why I haven’t gotten it yet.

I had an IUD twice and it wasn’t anymore painful/uncomfortable than a pap test, in my opinion. I didn’t get it again because my husband got a vasectomy. I had to go back on a hormone so now I get the Depo-Provera shot every 3 months. It helped my migraines SO much and I don’t get a period at all.

It wasn’t too bad for me. Take some Advil before. Some cramping for 1-2 days. It’s a different experience for everyone.

I got it inserted after my ablation so I was already asleep. Look into that if your periods are heavy and long. I had a couple super lights ones after then nothing and it's been 2 years. it was worth doing in my opinion. Doc also said I can leave it in atleast 8 years possibly longer as its not used as birth control as I put in in to help loose heavy periods and I'm done having children.

I’m lucky, after kids I got an “ablation “done, 15 yrs ago. My periods were so bad. It’s the best thing I ever did but not if kids may be in your future.💯

The insertion isn’t bad, it’s the extraction that is awful.🥺
