You could have trains to do that and it would reduce pollution for the rest of the world 😭😭😭

And also the Midwest’s mentality of “8 hours isn’t that far and better than flying” as we drive from KC to Denver…

We drive a lot. The US has not invested in reliable, affordable public transit. I can't even call a taxi or Uber. Trains are limited and expensive. Rental cars for destinations are very expensive. It is a beautiful country, but driving is the best option for most folks.

My family has driven from SD to FL ( ~23 hours, 1500 miles) non stop because “why pay for hotel”. Just swapped drivers.

15 hours. I was driving back home from Disney World and got lost in the hills of Tennessee. Nearly ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere 😭

Remember the total solar eclipse we had a few years ago? I live in the Tampa Bay area. I drove over 1,000 (one way) to Arkansas to watch the totality and then immediately turned around and drove back to go to work the next day. 😂

I’ve been to every state but Alaska and Hawaii, and yeah, North Dakota was probably the least interesting.

My family used to regularly take 22-23 hour road trips when we were little because driving from the East Coast to central Texas was cheaper than flying for 6 people

I’ve driven across the country 3 times. 3000 miles each way. Drove a different route each time so I could see something different

If it is 3 hrs one way, that is a day trip for me in the summer. But for spring break we flew to NM and then drove 1400 miles in a week in a big circle to see as much of NM as we could that week.

Once drove 23 hours from southern Ontario to Manitoba with my 10 month old baby to visit my best friend for a long weekend then drove home. It was an impulse decision too, woke up that morning, packed the car and set out.
