I’m very up front in session zero. I don’t run murder hobo games or villain campaigns. If that is your thing. You need a different GM, I,have no interest in that kind of game. And will walk away from the game if you try to turn it into that.

I'm very explicit in my session 0 I run heroic games. you will save a city, a planet, the universe, a street. regardless you'll be saving something and you will be heroes. don't like it? get a different GM, the world is pretty bad already, I want my heroic escapism.

yeah I know I'm too old for all of that. I'm to the point in my gaming career where I'm going to tell the story I want to tell and if I can't then I won't dm. DMS need to remember that in today's world, they are the premium. everybody needs a DM to play. I refuse to dungeon master for a group that I don't have fun with. I can use my free time to play WoW or something. they're not entitled to your free time. if they don't treat you DMing for them as a privilege, do something else

Adventures in MiddleEarth (and The One Ring ROg that it’s based off of) has a shadow mechanic that gives shadow points for doing less than heroic things. Eventually their characters become so corrupted they lose control of them.
