While it is great that the Mets developed this state-of-the-art training facility in the DR, it’s mindblowing that there isn't any investment like that in the city itself. There are baseball community-based organizations here in NYC. One even became a charter school network.

baseball does not hand out million dollar contracts to unproven players. you have to be proven, not just simply drafted.

Shouldn’t be fully guaranteed contracts in MLB. If a player signs for 20 million, only 33% should be guaranteed and the rest should be based on incentives - games played, OPS, run production, AS selection, etc. Guys like Miguel Cabrera and Anthony Rendon are just two examples of how destructive massive guaranteed contracts are to teams.

Growing up, we play football everywhere, in the house, swimming pools, middle of street, on basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields and anywhere else.. its not that simple to just play baseball. Everyone has a basketball and football. Not everyone has baseballs, gloves and bats. Also, baseball normally takes structure and planning. With football catch with two people will turn into a 1vs1 lol

Frank Thimas, Bo Jackson,Deion Sanders and Brian Jordan played football and baseball in college. Frank ultimately chose baseball. Jordan. Bo and Deion did both as pros but two ultimately chose one sport. Bo we'll never know if he could have done both long-term.

They'd not true. Baseball has special initiatives to develop talent in the cities because they want more black people watching the game and buying tickets etc. They've been trying to develop it for years. Don't sit here and pretend black guys like baseball anywhere near as much as basketball and football. With perfect game tournaments they will find the talent. The reason there aren't more black guys playing baseball is because it's a slow game and not as easy to love unless your father is working with you to appreciate it and teach you the game. It's way harder to learn than any other sport and athleticism only takes you so far compared to those other 2 sports.
