@pgmn_official: As proposals to tax the country’s richest Filipinos gain traction, PGMN anchor Orion Perez Dumdum warned that the policy could hit far beyond billionaires and directly affect the systems that power daily life. The proposal, introduced by the IBON Foundation, includes a 1 to 3 percent tax on billion-level wealth, with estimates of ₱500 to ₱600 billion in annual revenue and around ₱155 billion from the 15 richest Filipinos alone. ⠀ Dumdum explained that companies may respond by raising prices, cutting costs, delaying projects, laying off workers, or selling assets. The result could mean higher electricity and fuel costs, fewer infrastructure projects, and reduced hiring. Inflation has already risen to 4.1 percent from 2.4 percent, with households struggling to keep up with basic expenses. The impact does not stay with billionaires. It moves through the economy and reaches ordinary Filipinos, directly affecting what people pay for daily needs, the jobs available, and how far their income can go.

already doing that, government have increase tax on dollar accounts and peso bank deposits, Philippines is not lacking taxes rather tax collections, if you put a cap on how much a business can generate might as well transition into socialist society 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but no matter the type if corruption persists there's no escape from inefficiency 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We built PGMN with no suitcases of cash, no China funding, no oligarchs, and no dynasties behind us—just a small team that believes Filipinos deserve honest, fearless storytelling. Independent media survives only when the people who value it choose to keep it alive, and every merch purchase helps sustain the work we do. In addition to our usual merch, we now have the PGMN Peanut Butter and the mug everyone's been waiting for. It’s all part of the movement, and every purchase supports our mission. All our merch types are designed for both men and women, including T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and muscle tees, and come in many designs, colors, and sizes. Thank you for standing with us. If you believe in this mission, wear the movement. Grab your PGMN merch now. Link in bio.

May naniniwala pa ba sa Ibon? I'm not against the wealth tax pero for sure it will eventually get passed on to the masa. Sana they shift focus to checking gov't spending. No matter how much tax we pay, if patuloy lang na wasted and corrupted e wala pa rin growth.
