@instituteofhumananatomy: 🫁 VO2 max isn't just a fitness buzzword — here's what's actually happening inside your body. VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen your body can take in, transport, and use during intense exercise — measured in mL of oxygen per kg of body weight per minute. And it all starts the moment you inhale. Air travels through your mouth → pharynx → trachea → bronchial tree → until it reaches the alveoli. These tiny hollow air sacs (think: a bundle of grapes) are where gas exchange begins — and where oxygen officially enters the body. 🍇 Follow for more anatomical awesomeness! #VO2max #anatomy #humananatomy #respiratorysystem #exercisescience #physiology #anatomyandphysiology #alveoli #oxygen #lungs #medschool #premed #nursingschool #sportsscience #biology #learnontiktok #tiktoklearningcampaign

It’s called HIIT training lol & you don’t do it for long because it’s exhausting. I’ve programmed my treadmill to go from a leisurely 3MPH to max speed on an incline for only 15 min😭 but I do it in 90 sec/30 sec intervals or in 2min/1min intervals because my lungs hate HIIT training no matter what I do.

I had a submassive PE last year and have really struggled with pain and ongoing symptoms like rapid heart rate and blood pressure irregularities. l'm finally starting to show a little improvement after 18 months. Currently, my only cardio is chasing my ducks and geese around my acreage when they are being naughty. It's not much but at least it's something and about all I can manage at the moment. I've always worked physically hard and played sports, so this was a very life changing experience. It's always interesting to find out what's going on in our bodies. As long as you're healthy, you don't give it too much thought, but when you have a life threatening and life changing health emergency, it really gives you pause.
