Years ago I got falsely accused of stealing from home Depot. My brain was kind of in post trauma like blank mode bc my husband had just died unexpectedly. I brought in curtains that I needed to return, my husband had bought them before he died bc we were going to redo our bedroom. I just needed to get them out of my sight lol. As I was walking into home Depot, I briefly stopped at the entrance & took them out of the home Depot bag to look at the measurements on them bc it suddenly occurred to me that I could just exchange them for curtains that would match the bedroom at my mom's house, bc after my husband passed I refused to stay in our house & was staying with my mom. When I exchanged a shirt at target in the past, I was told I could just keep the bag with me, grab the right size & go to the counter to exchange so I just walked to the curtain aisle, looked around, didn't see anything that would work & went to the return counter. I realized once I was at the return counter that I'm an idiot because the card it was purchased with, was his card & not our joint account and after he died, I had shut those down. Suddenly security came up & asked me to come with them. I'm still confused kind of but I think what they thought I did was go to the curtain area, put the curtains in a empty bag & then somehow had a receipt for those exact curtains and tried to return them? idk, all I know is I have never stolen & it took me a good 20 min of BEGGING security to pull up the cameras so he could see me walking in with them, he didn't want to do it. He finally does & you clearly see me walking in with the bag & stopping to look at them as I walked in. He apologized, offered me his Halloween candy & let me hang in his office for a bit bc I had been crying & didn't want people to see 😂😂😂 most mortifying moment
