For those of you thinking about medication: You are kick ass parents! Don’t beat yourself up! My son is now able to live a life he couldn’t have before medication and I’m so thankful I finally did it. Medication is normal and can change you and your child’s entire life. My son couldn’t be happier now.

My son thanked me for putting him on medication he came home and said mom I can have conversations now and know what people are talking about school is easier making friends is easier and my mind is relaxed. Please don’t place negativity on medication if your child needs it. It could change their life.

What can you do for adhd? I have a 5 year old who acts the same when he is overstimulated but I do NOT want him to take medication if he doesn’t have to.

We put our daughter in counseling. Then we took a parenting class on handling ADHD kids. It opened my eyes to so much. My daughter rarely has a meltdown. Maybe 2-3 a year. It helped so much.

my babygirl has ADHD ..I feel bad for giving her the meds but she does so much better with them. I allow her to not take it on weekends or holidays or days off for her to be free . just makes me feel guilty and idk why 😔 I feel like maybe idk how to deal with her sometimes struggling to figure it out and I try that gentle parenting but also try the strict parenting w lil old school.. sometimes I struggle to figure it out

I believe OT helps with this. My son’s 4. He is in play therapy, OT and has an iep, and in sports. But I am strongly thinking of putting him on meds so he can have BOTH therapy and meds. And feel like the therapy would be effective cus he will be able slow it down and grasp more

Just know we also turn into adults that also struggle, know that adhd doesnr get easier & also teenage hood is SO hard so just keep swimming through it. Just never give up even though he may go through so many different emotions and phases know it’s never your fault for how he acts and it’s also never his fault either💔

When my boy gets like this he likes being rolled up in a blanket snug like a burrito! He instantly breathes and snuggles up to me or his dad and regulates. Others see tantrums I see a boy struggling to regulate and is overwhelmed! I will forever protect my boy 💕

I get so much judgement when my daughter has one of her meltdowns, but I just do my best to love her through it. You got this momma you are his voice when he can't find the words.

We put my oldest on medication when he was 11 years old and it was the best thing for him. He came to me the other day and said “thank you mama I finally fit in, in class & with my friends”. 💙 stay strong mama!!

I went through that. did alot of therapy with my son. we learned alot and I learned the only way that calmed him down was just getting him and hugging him and kissing him and letting him know I love him so much. sometimes gentle parenting does work

My daughter is 2. I know that’s really young, but I recognize myself in her when she has these meltdowns. It’s so freaking hard. So. Hard.
