I feel like this is also city dependent. I went to college in NYC and there were more relationships of female classmates dating a man 5+ years older than them than there were classmates dating classmates (most of the former are still together ironically). Once I moved to San Francisco though, the number of age gap couples plummeted and it seemed like everyone was 0-3 years age gaps
