The morality police were loud in my comments, but let’s be clear I said culture, not country. Some keep saying “it’s just your man” and “you just didn’t choose well”. Yet millions of women across the world are sharing the same experience. That’s not coincidence. That’s a pattern. And here’s the real question: How are women supposed to choose the right man if they’re shamed for gaining the experience that teaches them what right even looks like? My freedom clearly triggers some of you. Because patriarchy benefits certain men, and anything that challenges it feels like a threat. When I speak about culture, I’m talking about patriarchal cultures. This isn’t me attacking where I come from. It’s me being honest about the pressure many women have experienced within it. And I’ve said it clearly, this applies to many cultures. I’m just speaking from my own. A lot of the anger is coming from men who know exactly what I’m talking about. Because they’ve seen it. In their fathers, their uncles, their friends, their colleagues. You’re not angry because it’s untrue. You’re angry because it’s being said out loud.
