Fun fact for everybody about the song. There were sound effects originally but these were deemed creepy and not “whimsical enough”.. when Willy wonka came out 9 years after the ride was established the theme was extremely popular and fit the vibe for the ride so when it was refurbed it was added. It’s also a song that can be continuously looped without a stop and restart. There was apparently (it was a long time ago so not super documented) a huge licensing hold up to use the Alice in wonderland music but Walt Disney had already agreed for them to use the Willy wonka music and because it’s now a staple of the ride they won’t change it 🥰

I was PETRIFIED on this as a child, and I don’t know why cos I was a fearless kid 😂 I’ve not seen the inside of this for over 30 years but anytime I go past it in Blackpool I’m just filled with dread 🤣🤣
