I used the AI chat on Amazon to print the return label for a pair of shoes I bought — I dropped the return at UPS Store last week … the shoes showed up at my door today while Amazon sent confirmation that it’s at their warehouse & my refund is being processed.. 😭Congrats to Jeff Besos & team, their RAG model has conflated their shipping databases & hallucinated the return. (I’m a Sr AI Architect) 😭😂

To me it feels like baking with a toddler. You have to let it measure the baking soda, but double check that it's using a teaspoon not a tablespoon. Let it count and dump in the cups of flour, but make sure you count as well cause it could lose track. There's no way in hell it can successfully separate an egg, so you either do it quickly behind its back, or just accept that you're going to fishing out pieces of shell. When the cookies are done the bosses are pleased that AI "did most of the work" despite the fact that it would have been faster and easier to just do it myself instead of babysitting

as a software engineering lead i use ai to make ai slop code and then usually have to fix all of it. so thats maybe slightly faster than doing it from scratch. and then the team i lead gives me their ai slop code to review and it takes forever because they don’t even know what their ai slop code is doing

we are encouraged to use it, especially copilot. I hate it and avoid at all costs. they "upgraded" our Adobe acrobat to the one with AI tools. I told the IT person I work with too much PII for that to be useful, and she told me it could make music videos. music videos on my PDFs

Yes. My boss is OBSESSED with AI. He wants us to use it for stuff it makes 0 sense to use it for. When I tell him it doesn’t work, he just mansplains over and over how I need to prompt it. The only thing I can maybe use it for is spreadsheets but he’s so obsessed that he insists on making them for me and they have WAY too much information and are so overwhelming

My company now uses AI voiceover for videos so they think because of that I can edit videos quicker when before this I was simply provided the human created voice over. Now I’m being tasked with phonetically typing out the voice over and generating it on top of my previous responsibilities. They don’t get how that only adds to my original workflow but hey less turnaround time! (I’m tried)

I worked as a community coordinator and part of the job was social media management. there was a restaurant on the property that hadn't done well in the past but we got new chefs and I started advertising heavily on social media and it brought in a ton of customers. the restaurant made more money in 3 months than in the past 4 years combined. my boss thought I was spending too much time designing flyers so they made me switch to AI flyers and captions. engagement on socials was noticably down and we started losing customers. I brought it up, but they insisted I use AI, even for images of the food. the restaurant closed permanently 8 months later 🤷♀️

I’m a recruiter. Management wants us using AI to tailor resumes to job descriptions. It creates completely fabricated bullet points, sometimes creating an entirely new role the person never had.

I work at a doctors office and we have an ai receptionist Kate. She frequently hangs up on patients or put them on hold for no reason. So they call back pissed off (rightfully so) and they have select options until they get to the nurse line who have nothing to do with scheduling

We're told in our precision machine shop to input the materials to get speeds and feeds for our programs. Our scrap rate before was less than 0.2%. Last quarter, our scrap rate was 4.7%. AI exceeding its 10X throughput!

We have GitHub copilot and power users have Claude code for different pricing model, we are not forced to use it. We are getting an insane amount of work done. It is genuinely amazing for writing code.

I work in Saas- We are mandated to use AI. They’re tracking if we’re using Gemini daily and continue to ask us to document how we can use AI more. We also have an augment bot integrated into our software code where we are encouraged to ask it questions on “how to use the product” to better help our customers- EXCEPT it CONSTANTLY hallucinates features and functionality that doesn’t exist. Some of the newer people end up telling their customers verbatim what the augment code bot says and then the customers end up getting pissed and loosing trust when that employee has to back track. It’s awful.
