The movie is definitely glorified. He did attend an easy, not so bad prison in real life, so they didn’t really glorify that part. That part is true. In the movie it says he went to prison in Nevada, but in real life it was in California. He went to the prison in the town I grew up in. My uncle was an investigator at the prison at the time Jordan Belfort was there. Jordan Belfort’s cellmate was Chong from Cheech and Chong. The prison itself is pretty laid back, it had tennis courts and basketball courts and decent access to the outside world. My uncle has plenty of stories about him and Chong, he did say Jordan was always kinda arrogant and an asshole.
