It's bizarre having the attitude that being outwardly social is considered weird. Human beings are social in nature. It is weird for people to be apprehensive about being social.

You & your husband were confident enough to move to a new country and build new lives in a new place. I think of it as assurance; being sure in yourself. I’m sure that I can do what I determine to do; if there’s an obstacle, I’ll try again another way but I’m sure I’ll find a way. You’ve demonstrated this same quality. People who have the spirit of this country often find their way here, I think, and then pass that spirit on through their families, as you’re now seeing in your family.

Confidence is a byproduct, but it’s also teaching children to socialize. You can be the least confident person in the room and still understand socialization. A good school will teach you this to ready you for the workforce.

Thats the core of being a kid, and joy…walking up to a random kid at the park your age or close to it, and asking to play. It’s the most normal thing here, and I never thought about it. Kids are non judgmental and pure, they just want to play, no conditions. I watched this very thing happen last weekend with my 9 yr old nephew, he’s shy, but finally joined the other kids, and it was like they’d always known each other. Running, playing ball, tag, red faces, just being kids.

I am an American, and when I was a child the schools I went to did not have a whole lot of public speaking opportunities at a young age. I was deathly afraid of public speaking even through college. My children on the other hand, had to do a lot of public speaking in School and I think it’s great, too!

the most stunning compliment I've ever gotten about my daughter, and she's AMAZING, is her attitude toward failure. her teacher TOOK THE TIME TO CALL ME and tell me that when things go wrong in their class projects, Ducky is just, "ok, on to the next idea" no tears, no shame, just the reality that if things were easy, then everyone'd do them. i was floored and humbled.
