Somewhere in my stuff I have a document called “100 Reasons Why i-Ready Sucks” written by a student. They came up with thoughtful and meaningful reasons why I-Ready sucks. I will have to see if I can find it for you.

You are held accountable as a principal, I'm accountable as a teacher, but no one is ever held accountable for district budgets. Don't be surprised if the person signing the contract ends up working at Iready. If it's still around.

Worst thing is that states now use the diagnostic as the biggest factor on if a child will be held back in 1st grade or 3rd. However, the questions on the diagnostic aren’t standards based.

I am not a fan of iready. their tests are long and alot on a student. plus most students just guess when doing lessons and tests so the data is not all that accurate.

My personal kids hate iready. They are both advanced math students and it’s torture for them. It may be okay for students who need repetition, but requiring advanced kids to do this is insane.

As a retired teacher, I did not care for IReady.

i-Ready should be avoided not only because of that but because their entire program’s validity is in question. Why spend millions on a program that doesn’t work?

I’m an aide and work with a lot different grades. There’s one kid who likes guessing answers wrong because of the noise it makes, they think it’s funny. Another kid in an upper grade when it pops up with a lot of words, they will guess because just to look of it being a longer problem overwhelms them and click past it. Then, during diagnostic testing they will fly through it so fast to play the “brain break” game. It’s o inaccurate. Not to mention sometimes I second guess myself on the answers because of how the questions are worded! I pray when I finish with my teaching degree iReady is no more!

We’ve had it for almost 10 years and I don’t think I’ve really seen any significant improvement from its use. We need less technology in our schools, especially elementary.

Concerning. Does the person responsible for brnging the contract be getting kickbacks/ related to the company or what?

My district has used it for a couple years now. I can’t say I’m seeing any progress and the kids absolutely hate it. It takes forever as well.

They're probably offering great contract options right now because of the controversy and obviously money matters most to the decision-makers of school systems. 🥴

Literally had this discussion in a leadership team meeting today. Our district (huge) is blowing this off saying the complainants are professional lawsuits filers.
