@baseballbyctkt: If your player struggles with catching, it’s usually not effort… it’s mechanics. This simple drill teaches kids to move their glove to the ball instead of pulling it back — which leads to more secure catches, better timing, and way more confidence. All you need is a bucket, a ball, and a pancake glove. We start on the knees to build the movement, then progress to standing, and finally transfer it to the game glove. It’s an easy way to improve hand-eye coordination and create habits that actually show up in games. And when they start making those catches? You’ll see the confidence build instantly. Save this drill and try it at your next practice ⚾ #Y#YouthBaseballB#BaseballDrillsF#FieldingDrillsB#BaseballTrainingBaseballParents

Sorry if this is a dumb question- my 6 year old is loving baseball and I know nothing. His glove is so so stiff compared to this little man’s. There’s no way he can open and close it to catch. What’s the best way to make it softer so he can actually use it?

How do I get him to stand in the box and not back out. When we practice and the team practices he will smack the ball but as soon as a kid pitches to him it's like he's scared. Any pointers?

Instead, sure your son moves his body where the ball is going in just in case the ball misses his glove.

I also would practice with a tennis ball with my son when he was small. It was harder to catch because it had a bounce to it. He would have to squeeze hard and cover with his other hand.
