@theunobsolete: They called it “voluntary”. That word is doing a lot of work for them. A voluntary separation means they already decided they want you gone. They just need to consign the paperwork agreeing that it was your idea. You can push back on The amount, the reference language, the timeline, and the benefits. You do have a choice respectively. Everybody got the eligibility email to take the vsp or not so your telling me they already made the choice to let everybody go ? That doesn’t make sense. Also the vsp isn’t cheaper than a layoff if you don’t take the vsp and you get laid off later the severance package isn’t nearly as lucrative. I agree with everything else in this video besides those two points.

I live in an at will state. They can fire you for any reason. I'll take the separation agreement, at least I'm walking away with something. Also, eligible for unemployment as long as the separation was due to reducing workforce

You do understand that 49 out of the 50 states are right to work states and with few exceptions the company can let you go for no reason at all. Too many ambulance chasing warriors out there using people for profit has got to stop.

That happened to me! Never agree to a ‘mutual agreement’. Luckily I appealed my unedeclibe letter that I was surprised to receive after HR had assured me I would get unemployment if I signed, and I re dived my back benefits upon winning my appeal. Took 5 months! The same amount of time it took to find a new and better job. I was young and naive and didn’t have you around to advise me😁
