I think the difference between nanna and the youngest dinner vs no dinner is probably because nanna was going on a date with someone she already knew she liked. She probably got to know him as a friend first and was excited to be asked out by a boy she liked. A first date now is more like an interview. If I like you then we go to dinner etc.
