Like the harakeke (flax bush), this rug’s lighter greens represent the newer reanga (generations), and the darker ones represent the generation which’ve come before - all of which build on legacy of the last. While I typically use koru or kōiri patterns, seeing them in these more realistic greens breathes new life into their āhua and what they stand for as Māori motif.
