That immediately shifted the approach. We began with a double cleanse to remove surface buildup so the skin could be assessed clearly. From there, treatment was built around barrier support first, while still targeting discoloration. We chose a 5% lactic acid exfoliant because it supports gentle exfoliation while also helping hydrate the skin. Making it ideal for dehydrated and pigment prone skin. A sensitivity test was performed to assess how the skin would respond before layering further. A sulfur spot treatment was also applied to protect any inflamed blemishes and reduce bacteria.
