it is a fake sword, getting hit with a fake sword would still hurt. and no he didn't record the line backwards, it's just a backwards lip sync.... actually a good amount of most dialogue is re recorded off set to get clearer voices. it's pretty standard actually!

Also in the film Hook, the final scene where peter hands his sword to thud was mostly improvised so the shocked/excited looks on the lost boys faces are totally genuine as they had no idea who was going to be chosen
