I prefer the Clematis armandii for a privacy screen as it has a ton of long thick leaves all year where as Clematis x cartmanii 'Avalanche' is much smaller and has very little green foliage and tons of flowers that once gone no longer provide that privacy all year. Mixing Avalanche with climbing roses, honeysuckle or other perennial/deciduous type Clematis can also create a stunning display. I am currently growing an Avalanche through/on a very old overgrown box wood that I have sheared into topiary since reducing its size could kill it. It gives it some interest 🥰
