The dark doesn't feel safe for me. I have a phobia of the dark. If I can't see my room around me, or there is dark shadows, I get very anxious and afraid, so I need a light source. And I need background noise as well, so I always have a movie playing on my tablet. I sleep just fine, so deep in fact that even my cat landing on me doesn't wake me up. I even have extremely vivid dreams. I've been sleeping with some form of light or night light since I was a kid
