If I had to learn Japanese from zero again, I would focus way less on trying to find the “perfect” study plan and way more on consistency. Most people quit because they spend too much time making color-coded schedules, downloading 15 apps, buying textbooks, and looking up “best way to learn Japanese” instead of actually using Japanese every day. The basics are honestly simple: Learn hiragana and katakana. Start listening to Japanese every day. Learn useful vocabulary. Read easy content. Practice speaking. The hard part is sticking with it long enough to see progress. One thing I think people wait too long to do is reading. Reading is honestly one of the fastest ways to improve because you learn vocabulary, kanji, grammar, sentence structure, and natural phrasing all at once. You do not need to jump straight into novels or manga meant for native speakers. Start with simple stories and easy content. That is why I like Yomikai. You can read stories at your level, tap words you do not know, see translations, furigana, grammar explanations, and keep reading without getting completely stuck every sentence. It feels much easier than trying to read random native content that is way too hard. You do not need to be perfect.
