our home is on 10 acres, Im on aged pension & wife on job seeker as too sick to work fulltime. If we were to sell we have to pay cgt on 5 acres even though land is on one deed & our house sits in middle of property. Weird setup & will cost us to sell

still rediculous if you own a house have no cash..most house are valued over that amount..so your better selling house keep the money and rent.your get the pension

There is no incentive to save…the government will take as much from you as they can..weather it’s from your pension or even if you don’t qualify for pension.

So if they are going to means test us as a couple then shouldn’t we be able to combine our super whilst we are still working for bigger compounding interest returns. It’s certainly not to protect you from divorce/seperation because super goes into the pool to be divided up in a separation.
