I never even thought of life insurance. What a practical thing to say, but unsettling. I wish you all the best.

Why did they ask if you want life insurance? Because afterward you’d not be eligible right? 🥺

I feel all of that! We finally found out that my dad had Huntington when I was 20 and I got tested at 21 or 22 and I’m positive. I had my tubes tied because I just couldn’t stand to pass it on. If and when you’re ready to have kiddos, Allie LaForce and Joe Smith have a Huntington’s foundation and you can apply for a grant to do IVF and they’ll test the embryo. I have a five-year-old now and I know for a fact, he does not have Huntington‘s. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I’m sorry. huntingtons has decimated my family. I do hope that there’s a big advancement in treatment as you age.

I also was tested and diagnosed at 18! I take care of my mother, she’s in end stage HD. It’s almost like looking into a little crystal ball sometimes. You’re in my thoughts.

I did the same thing but with hereditary ALS. Also tested positive. It’s a strange experience to live knowing one day you will likely show symptoms. For me it’s 90% chance

Huntingtons runs on my mom’s side. My grandmother passed from it but My mom refused to get tested so I chose to get tested. Luckily I only had 17 repeats so was negative but my cousins and aunt have it and I struggled with the guilt of being negative while they ended up positive.

my best friends mom passed when she was 10 from Huntingtons. she decided she didnt want to find out. she could handle it being a possibility that loomed but didnt want to confirm. her sister recently got tested because she was starting to show symptoms. she was positive. this is such a heavy diagnosis for anyone. im glad you have support and followed through with testing when it felt right for you. I hope nothing but a life full of love and no regrets.

You are a brave girl to teach the world about HD. My brother tested positive, my sister and I tested negative. My nephew has HD and he has a son. For 75 years this has been my life.
