Married 2 years and I have never been so miserable in my life. My narcissistic ex was less draining. I've started working on getting back to my secure attachment self, so I can leave.

Quick question do they know that I have an attachment style? Should you talk to them and let them know that you know that they have avoidance attachment style

I am set to bitter and for very good reasons. I'm fine with this. He also doesn't care how bitter I am until he needs someone and then his confused why I can't be amicable. Makes me laugh everytime.

How is this different from narcissist behaviors? I go through this same cycle with my husband every 2-3months. He’ll only start to do some of the things I’ve cried and begged for once things look like it’s ending. But it only last like 2weeks and the cycle completes. 😩

What difference does it make if they want to be better if they’re not willing to reflect and actually do the work though

This just happened to me, we took some space to each work start to work on our things w/ therapy whilst staying in contact and conciously together. He could show up better and stay connected when he was bringing emotional things and I was his rock through a life thing he was dealing with being supportive, listening understanding etc. but as soon as my need for emotional balance, my emotions and feelings came up he became dismissive, defensive and judgemental again. I'd tried to talk to him about it, I was dismissed, got upset and his response was 'here we go', 'oh god', 'I can't do this', or a problem to fix my talking to my therapist which he knows I already am. All I needed was his presence and to stay with me and when asked he dismissed me and said he couldn't, he was tired etc.
I even framed it as bluntly as 'I showed up when you needed it, I was your rock (his words) but when I need you for a moment, you disappear and judge my emotions instead'. His response was to say I was using his words against him.
It's exhausting and painful to try and live in that dynamic. I chose myself and to not have to fight for space or defend my emotions. 💔😢

Soooo if they can temporarily override their nervous system to show up better doesn’t this prove that they CAN consistently show up better… they just choose not to? As a healing FA that leans heavily anxious, I recognize when I am triggered into FA behavior and CHOOSE wether to act on it or not. Why does the DA get a pass here?

yet at first they have emotional awareness to lure you in. its exhausting, its lonely, and not worth it.

Finneas the Therapy Dog :
If they can temp override their nervous system means they can actually learn a new behavior. It is whether or not they want to invest in their own mental health is the real issue.
