@compass.acres: Here’s the deal! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 I absolutely LOVE the look of my grasses and the texture and movement they bring to the garden. The best part? You are able to split them to save money! But here are some tips! 1. Give your plant time — wait at least 3 years so it builds a strong, established root system. Splitting too early can shock the plant and slow its growth. 2. Split while dormant — early spring or late fall is ideal. You’ll avoid damaging fresh foliage and give the roots a clean start before the growing season. 3. Press in your root ball — don’t skip this. Firming the soil removes air pockets, which can dry out roots and prevent proper water uptake. Good soil-to-root contact = stronger, healthier growth. 4. Plant in odd numbers — 1, 3, or 5 creates a more natural, balanced look in your landscape (your eye just likes it better). 5. Choose wisely — native grasses are always your best bet. If you go non-native, make sure they aren’t invasive, aggressive, or prolific in your area. Some varieties (like pampas in warmer regions) can spread fast and disrupt ecosystems—do your homework. Also I love this tiller from @taskstar_official It made planting these grasses SO easy, and honestly look at the soil 😍 Save this for later + follow along for more real-life garden tips 🌱 #compassacres #gardendesign #diygarden #splittinggrasses gardentips
