we had a 1300 word limit for a creative writing assignment and i had like 7500 words so i spent HOURS agonizing over how to cut it down and then when the class did critiques so many people were like “it kinda feels rushed :/ it feels like it’s missing something” CAUSE IT IS

my teachers kept calling me hemingway and said I used the iceberg theory in my creative writing assignments cause I cut down the word count a BUNCH and I guess they thought it was intentionally up to interpretation lol? nah sir I was just following your short ass word limit

I got it from ~1200 to ~1100. The assigned word count was 500-800... asked the teacher if it was okay and he said yeah but he'd have to do a bit of skimming 😭. mind you I've been making this man read essays over the word count all year. I think I might appear in his nightmares.
