I don’t think the struggling runner is getting enough credit for the fact that he got back up every single time he fell down. He’s not weak because he fell, he’s strong because he kept trying to get back up.

To round out the story, the two men who stopped to help are Aaron Beggs from Northern Ireland and Robson Olveira from Brazil. The runner they helped is Ajay Haridasse, a Bostonian and Senior at Northeastern. Beggs and Oliveira brought Haridasse all the way across the finish line with a time of 2:45. The Boston Athletic Association (BAA, the governing body of this race) upheld the finish times for all three men because Haridasse only got help from other registered participants (not spectators or medical professionals). As a result, all three men qualified for the 2027 Boston Marathon. They have all expressed their gratitude on social media but declined to give interviews, saying “anyone would have done what [we] did.”

My dad (shirtless on the left) helped carry someone across the Boston marathon finish line in 2017! He just ran his 13th Boston in a row and this is still his most memorable race:)

To the lady YELLING “YOU CAN DO IT, you got this” thank you for being YOU! To the two men who stopped to help out a fellow human being, thank you! This shouldn’t be the exception, this should be the norm. Humans helping fellow humans, should be normal.

The number of people who ran right past him knowing he was in need of help is heartbreaking. The gentleman in yellow, #2289 is Mr. Aaron Beggs. The gentleman in white, #2272 is Robson De Oliveira. Two kind, caring, human heroes. Watching them help their fellow runner was so heartwarming. Good people still exist.

I don’t care who won the Boston Marathon. I’ve never cared about the Boston marathon. But all of a sudden, I care who these two humans were helping the third human across the finish line at the Boston marathon.
