![The brilliant Enrique @havesomecakeuk put our @madewithflowerco BLOOMbase to the test with piping gel and Trex, along with @couturesugarpaste, and shows you just how wonderful and smooth it looks 😍 You can read more of Enrique’s thoughts below 👇 —— About Fondant | Sugarpaste + BLOOMBase by @madewithflowerco I tried 2 different mediums to stick the Fondant : Piping Gel and TREX [Vegetable Fat/Crisco]: •Despite early assumptions , Piping Gel worked like a charm! Initially I thought the more liquid-y nature of it would probably affect the cardboard layer but it did not. • TREX is a greasy paste-like medium and I noticed [you would too in the video] that it does affect the paper layer changing its colour. It’s otherwise as good as piping gel but…. • …I noticed that , albeit invisible to the naked eye , for us OCD maniacs , the white has a darker tinge of colour underneath as soon as covering it • You do not need to prime the BLOOMbase beforehand thou. If using White as in this video, it is not a big deal [I think it would be for some ‘not so white WHITE’ Sugarpaste brands but it’s perfect with @couturesugarpaste ] as it is hardly noticeable. • If you cover it beforehand, the TREX sets, my guess is that the grease is fully absorbed [between cardboard layer and fondant] and the slight change of ‘whiteness’ disappear and becomes and intense white as it should be! • And it is OH SO SMOOTH! You can see the difference in smoothness clearly between a Styrofoam Dummy and the BLOOMbase! •Next step is to strip the BLOOMbase off!
