I flash to let people know too. It’s courtesy. Not necessarily to tell them the police is doing radar, but just to warn them a police officer is near. If the cop was doing a RIDE program I would not flash to warn people.

I'm in North Carolina and we learned to do it and saw it as a courtesy to do to people who might have gotten stopped. That being said at 17 years old I was stopped by a cop after sitting at a light, reviving my engine...the cop said I was reviving to race. My truck was a straight drive that was loud. Sometimes I had to give it a little gas when I was sitting for a minute. The cop was truly a dick...charged me with reckless driving just for holding my foot on the gas, in neutral. I had a court date and the dick didn't show up for it, so it got thrown out and I wasn't charged with anything. So yeah...some cops can be dicks and like to act godly to a scared teenager that was being pulled over for the first time. I'm very proud to say that has been the only time I was pulled over in my 55 years on this planet. I'd probably get locked up because age hardens you and sometimes you can't control what comes out of your mouth.😁
