DukeofBumfuckelstein :
I personally love how S.M. Stirling did exposition in the first book of his Domination of the Draka quadrilogy, Marching Through Georgia. Every chapter he started with exposition framed through in world books on history in history, philosophy or arms, like 200 Years: A Social History of the Domination, by Alan E. Sorensson, Ph.D. Archons Press 1983, Under the Yoke: Postwar Europe by Angelo Menzarotti, Cuba State University Press, Havana, 1977, Daughter of Darkness: A Life by Anna Von Shrakenberg, Empires of the Night: A 40s Journal by William A. Dreiser, Weapons of the Eurasian War by Colonel Carlos Fueterrez, U.S. Army (ret.) Defense Institute Press, Mexico City, 1955, Meditations: Colder than the Moon by Elvira Nalderssen, Archona Press, 1930, Fire And Blood: The Eurasian War VI: The Gathering Thunder, 1930-1941 by Strategos Robert A. Jackson (ret.), New Territories Press, Vienna, 1965, and an assortment of internal memos between security personnel, all of these would have been real things written and/or published in this universe and I love that so much.
