@theartcoach: Tap the link in my bio to start the drawing drills course. This is a Level 1 to Level 4 cylinder progression. Level 1: Simple cylinders at different angles. You’re learning how they sit in space, how the ellipses change, and how to rotate them with confidence. Level 2: Modify the cylinder. Bend it. Curve it. Widen it. Narrow it. Now it starts to feel alive instead of rigid. Level 3: Turn those cylinders into simple objects. Logs. Tree trunks. Bottles. Tentacles. Level 4: Use cylinders for complex subjects like arms, legs, and other anatomical forms. This is why simple drills matter. Most complicated drawings are built from basic forms used well. One artist told me: “I used to be intimidated by anatomy. Once I saw arms as cylinders first, everything got easier.” That’s the shift. You stop seeing complexity as overwhelming. You start seeing structure. If you want the fastest way to improve your drawing, train the forms everything is built from.
