But we’re being forced to work 5/10s, 6/10s or even 7/12s, loosing our personal time to these projects making everyone else rich, when they could easily pay us plenty at 40hours and make $260k without having to work OT. Brothers, and sisters, working OT isn’t the flex you think it is. If these contractors have the overhead to pay for all this OT then they have plenty of overhead to pay us more at 40 hours. This is where the IBEW is failing is tragically. One of the main objectives of the IBEW is to reduce the labor hours worked. It’s in our constitution. Where the fuck are they?

Nothing against trades. But do not act like data centers are a good thing. There’s literally nothing good about them. Talk about money and all but data centers will change this world for the worse. But screw it right. Money money money.

Joining a union is a big commitment, school twice a week after work,2 weeks training center yearly (paid at a lower rate) and low starting wage $19.25 now ($18.50) when I started with $2 increases yearly until Mij then high $30s for 2 years and then you make $65hourly as a journeyman, it’s a long process 6.5year and during this economy it’s hard for ppl to get through the apprenticeship financially not to mention all the time you put into it while making horrible pay, This is coming from a 3rd year nyc, obviously it’s worth it in the long run
