the saddest part is that isolating feels like self protection but it's actually just a little kid's coping mechanism that never got updated. you learned to disappear because no one ever showed you that staying and being seen was safe

I grew up where you couldn't express your feelings. A child wasn't to be heard. I had to deal with things on my own. Isolate, sarcasm i used to cope and just staying out of the way. I still isolate but for me its to recharge. I have gotten better with saying whats on my mind and heart now. I have done alot of healing for myself

Life is not always as it seems from the outside. You could be absolutely correct, I don’t know the situation. But, it could also be worse. I don’t pretend to understand your situation, but if things are as bad as you say, you need to make a plan to get yourself out of the situation safely. If I were you, I would be aiming for a scholarship to get your schooling paid for, you out of the house, & build yourself a career at the same time.

That feeling of “don’t want to be a burden” is a deep, deep wound. It hurts, but get a good psychiatrist and work through it, I’m not past it yet but making progress. It’s not a quick fix

back in the day my moms parental delivery system was "let the baby cry, he will learn to self sooth". i got to wonder if this is part of it. I suspect yes. as my 13 year marriage is currently ending, all I seem to want is just a hug. someone to lay on their lap and cry my eyes out.
