Even if there’s no overhead bin space, your bag would just be gate checked so it’s not like you can’t bring it. Unless you really care abt boarding last and not picking your seat, there’s no reason to not do basic for American bc you still get a carry on. United for example does not allow carry on on for basic ticket

They have the best basic economy because if you’re a AA advantage member (free to sign up/earn miles) you can board in group 6. As opposed to group 8/9

I do basic on AA, and I have the AA Advantage CC, so I get bumped up to Group 5 boarding. There is always space for my carry on 😁

I use delta with this ticket. Flight crew if you are kind to them finds a spot sometimes in Comfort+ or First Class.

If your bags get checked it goes to final destination 😂😂 only regional jets get valet tagged (where you wait for it at the jetbridge)
