OMG thank you! I’ve been observing and experiencing this pattern all my life. And it’s been growing. Right now it seems not just corporations but society at large is disfunctional and we are being mistreated and harmed and made to believe that it is our own fault and that we need to fix ourselves in order to fit in to the system.

Your analysis is so spot on, I love it! We as humans don’t want to take on the risks of change but often we need to change our toxic environment to be able to flourish and find peaceful lives. Thank you for explaining this to so many people who need to hear this and gain the courage to make changes in their lives.

Those interested in a more systemic approach might consider a general search on the terms Radical Social Work and Critical Social Work. A bridge theory comes from Robert Keagan in his book In Over Our Heads.

Thanks for sharing Olesya! You have done what barely anyone has the integrity to do nowadays: validate the reality of so many people. Thank you for that, and thank you for letting us know about dr Kirk Honda, will definitely check his work out! ❣️

Unfortunately so many people are consumed with the debt trap that they are locked into slavery of their toxic jobs because they have to have the job to pay for their lifestyle and the money is already spent. So sad

We are the product of our environment, at least to a certain degree I think . But I have experienced this at first hand by leaving the ' shit stained rock called Brazil ' where I was born and moving to U.S. at a young age and living for decades there ,and then being deported back to Brazil and realizing how I don't fit anymore in a place where I was basically raised . But because I moved to a place which I considered better by my standards i adapted dramatically , and now I refuse to readapt where I no longer align with the collective, and neither do I want too because it there's no room for the identity I desire for me, I outgrow them . Because of this I have reached a stagnation point, I'm neither here or there. The amount of mental work and gymnastics I have done in the last 4 years that I have been in this situation is impressive , it's not all highs though when I get the lows I'm full of rage , then I'm back at the top . Everything in this place is designed to make me angry , the traffic , the loud people etc . The lack of agency I have endured so far is unimaginable. Considering how much agency I used to have .

Some do try to harm me out of envy. Or did when I was young and beautiful and talented and very creative. I could not find safety.

Right! And it’s even worse when the counselor has access to the toxic environment and refuses to confront it and help them to stop being toxic.

My second favorite manipulation /scam tactic of psychology is they tell us that black and white thinking is harmful and destructive and a sign that you're not very healthy. well simultaneously they have a lot of black and white sayers like your feelings are always valid. intent never negates impact The person who shares their feelings first always has authored the other person as you shut up.

Too many licensed therapists aren’t good at their jobs or worse. My 1st wife of 19 yrs was slowly succumbing to mental illness. In 1st session she told therapist that I secretly worked for the CIA and didn’t really go to my office that she could come to any time and I was always there. Before cell phones or pagers. Without asking me a question the 40 something female therapist started telling a story about a past client whose husband had a second job and spoke a foreign language his wife didn’t know about. The entire session was spent on me explaining why that couldn’t be true. I didn’t go back.
