Pictures of this book already exist on Amazon, probably, so I would imagine the AI is just grabbing the actual ISBN from the already existing, publicly accessible images. I'm not sure if it's actually this intelligent. The real test would be to have it change the ISBN barcode to a number that doesn't actually exist at all yet and doesn't map to any existing books, and then see if the barcode scanner actually picks up that non-existent number.
