This was my first ever quilt, it is queen sized and has 12 appliqué chickens with button eyes and has batting and is fully quilted all on a domestic machine. It has a TON of mistakes. But I 100% am an all or nothing person😭 I have an issue with starting small I have the “how hard can it be” gene 😭

This is my first one and it’s far from perfect! People said I need a walking foot so I put one on last night and now it’s skipping stitches even though I’m going as slow as I can!

Very good tips! I started out with a charm square baby-sized quilt for my youngest. Then my next two quilts were made with donated fabric. It was all hideous, but it taught me so much. We have to learn to give ourselves the chance to make bad art! The first few tries won’t be our best, and that’s ok, it’s all worth it because we’re learning.

My first ever sewing project was a full sized puff quilt and I used a Sherpa backing it was awesome I used embroidery floss to quilt the puffs 😅

I agree with the ironing. I used to skip ironing but it is such a must and makes all the seams so crisp. It has become something that is satisfying for me.
