Most people don’t realize how loud a jet afterburner is until you’re standing next to one. My grandfather was a general contractor who did government contracts on navy and marine bases for a while. We did a project on the test line at NAS North Island on Coronado CA where they would work on and test the AV-8Bs, FA-18s, C-2s, and E-2s. It was pretty interesting being up close and personal with military aircraft, and boy, are they loud up close.
