this is a very difficult call. if the police officer is demanding ID for the sole purpose of informing the owners of the residents that the drone was flown over, it would be considered inappropriate and illegal to do so. many cities ban drones being flown over private residences due to voyeurism and similar crimes, so the police can demand your ID for doing so.
