I DO know the science! One of the proteins of the miracle berry blocks the taste receptors on your tongue that identify sour or tart flavors. Artichokes have a similar compound called cynarine, it's different from the miracle berries but does work similarly

Just a friendly PSA for anyone who sees this and wants to give a try. Just because lemons and limes taste like candy…. Doesn’t mean your stomach is ready for all that citric acid. Acid reflux people in looking at you!

These are also really great for people going through chemo/radiation treatments who may have lost their taste, or have everything taste metallic, some people report that it helps make food a bit more enjoyable. I don’t think it works for everyone but I’d researched them for a loved one who was not really enjoying eating anymore.

Do NOT. I repeat DO NOT eat these and then have anything with ranch dressing. I was at a party and tried these for fun, forgot about it, and then grabbed a carrot and some ranch dip. It was sweet instead of tangy, and I haven’t forgotten about it like 8 years later.

We studied them in my high school biology class. They work by blocking your sour taste receptors, basically plugging them up for a little bit so you taste to other elements of the food other than the sourness

Hey now. Don't stop there. Take a shower of apple cider vinegar. Its now apple juice. Have a raspberry with a squirt of mustard. Tasty salad dressing. There are sooooooooo many gross things that are fun with this. We do Miracle berry charcuterie boards.. and it never looks appetizing 😂

I've done this great experience but be mindful that you'll feel the burn on your tongue later from too many limes ,lemons and pineapple. I went a little overboard the time I did it.
