@nancymayaaa: I’ve struggled to capture my spirit since my dad died, I look & feel different, The sadness of my eyes, The tiredness of my face, I am an image I can’t recognize, I look in the mirror, And hope she’d speak back, I pray to her, “Please, help me remember ~who I was ~ before this death,” She’d respond with a deep breath, “You’re still here, it’s okay that you’ve changed” This face knows life, This face knows loss. Together and apart. ^ wrote this a while back. It’s beautiful to read & remember all that I’ve been. I prayed for days like today, where’d I take a picture & see a glimpse of the ~ Nancy ~ I longed for, I’ve missed her, But - she’s not me any more & though we are bonded by memory & love She deserves to experience who I am now.
