@onceuponatimein_history: This tomb in Westminster Abbey no longer has an inscription but was long thought to be the final resting place of Katherine of England, youngest child of Henry III and the younger sister of Edward I. The 16th century manuscript notes of John Stow record it has holding the bones of 9 children. This seems to be a mistake of unknown origin, one that continued in various forms for centuries. The fact that Stow states 'bones' rather than 'bodies' suggests that the royal remains may have been moved to reside together in one tomb, but there is no recordings of the children's disinterments. It is now believed to only old the remains of Edward I's sons, John and Henry. You can read more about it in Sally Badham's 'Edward The Confessor's Chapel, Westminster Abbey: The Origins of the Royal Mausoleum and its Cosmatesque Pavement' on ResearchGate #edwardi #henryiii #westminsterabbey #History #tombs
The mortality rate for children, during this time was heartbreaking.
